Education Without Boundaries

One Tree School Project

This project will provide access to education for children living in Warrap State in Southern Sudan. The school will be free to students and will give preference to children from the poorest communities.

The school has been given a name and it is call Adiongdit Primary School.

Adiongdit was the highest elder of the community during his time. He died during the British colonial and was buried where the school is situated. He was a man with God’s gift of healing people. The entire community respected him and still regard him a man sent by God to do his duties.

Beneficiaries

The primary beneficiaries of this programme will be children from the poorest communities in Tuele Boma (sub-district) in Panyok Payam (district), who currently have no access to education or that are being taught under a tree.

Teaching will be in English and the curriculum to be used is the East African Curriculum, as is used in all schools in Southern Sudan. The programme will seek to place Yr 12 students in apprenticeships or similar training, or university education for those who demonstrate academic ability.

The secondary beneficiaries of this programme will be the communities in which the students live. An education for their children will give parents great pride and hope for the future, knowing their children will have better opportunities in life than has been their experience.

Outcome

The school facility will provide the following:

  • Functional and sustainable education facility for 336 students (Year 1 to Year 8) with 42 students per year.
  • Functional and sustainable educational facility for adult students during late afternoon education classes.
  • Functional Community library providing the community with books about basic agricultural and farming practices as well as health awareness issues.
.
