Hutchins Primary School Visit

August 3, 2010, 3:38 pm - by Dominik

  • Awak visits Hutchings for talk.
  • School presented Awak with a gift voucher.
  • UPDATE: Year 3 student sells unwanted toys to help.

On the 26th of July, Awak visited The Hutchins School to do a presentation about his life as a refugee and the foundation. The boys where overwhelmed by Awak's story and have donate to us a $400 voucher for school supplies from Windmill Education Pty Ltd.

The Year 5 students also provided us with a card wishing us all the best in our project.

UPDATE : - 16/08/2010

We got a surprising response from the Hutchins School that I thought was worth mentioning.

The response read:

Dear Awak,
You will be so pleased to hear that your talk sparked something in one of our Year 3 boys. Today he handed in $25.90 to his teacher. He had collected together all his unwanted toys and, without telling anyone, sold them to raise money for your school. It brought tears to my eyes!

It is very overwhelming to see that a child at such a young age is willing to sacrifice his own toys just so people less fortunate then him can have an opportunity at an education. To us this selfless act is priceless and we would like to graciously thank him for his generosity.
