Meet The Team In South Sudan

August 23, 2013, 7:57 pm - by Dominik

  • Awak selects local team in South Sudan.
  • The team will supervise the build.

Awak has been in touch with community elders over the last few months providing regular updates on fundraising activities back in Australia.

There was discussion around starting stage 1 of the project. Awak and the community discussed that in order to begin the project that WWBF would need to find a suitable local team in South Sudan to manage the project. The elders recommended Stephen Dut Ring, who worked for Sudan Production Aid (SUPRAID) promoting peace and stability in South Sudan.

Awak met Stephen in person in Australia when Stephen was visiting his relatives. They both discussed the One Tree School Project and agreed to form a working partnership once Stephen went back to South Sudan to ensure the school can be built successfully.

Stephen currently resides in Warrap and is a community elder where the school will be built.
There are three other people who will support Stephen supervise the project.

Ring Madit Aniu and Ater Kondok Ring who both have worked with several NGOs in the past, including with Stephen at SUPRAID, will provide project management skills.

Augustino Wol who currently works for World Food Programme will be the point of communication between the Australian and South Sudanese teams.

WWBF would like to thank these four individuals for joining this great project that will benefit many kids that currently get bare minimal education.
